This is one of my new favorites. It is my go to when I am traveling and am not sure what is good. I am rarely disappointed by this one! It is really fun and easy to make at home. I don’t know about you…but I am a huge fan of fusion food. I love taking the best of two different types of food and smashing them together. Let’s talk samosas. They are available everywhere on the Indian subcontinent. I decided to reimagine my favorite Indian snack food – samosas and reimagine them to include tex mex flavors. Ingredients for Dough 2 Cups Chickpea flour 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1/4 cup water 1 tablespoon of salt 1 rolling pin Ingredients for Filling 2 diced hatch chilies from Melissa’s Produce 1 cup of corn 1 diced medium red onion 2 tablespoons […]
Generally speaking, I am a huge fan of fritters. My parents grew eating these in India whenever it rained. We love bhajiyas ( fritters) to warm up your insides when it is dreary & cold out. In the US we had bhajiyas in the winter. Easy food that had few ingredients. I love the prep because it is only 10 minutes. I have created an easy way to incorporate Bebe’s All Natural Tikka Masala sauce as my own twist on a classic. Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups Chickpea flour 1 large onion cut into rings 1/4 cup water 1 -2 tablespoons […]
Kick up your pesto game with something spicy and easy to find. I love adding different things to my pesto. Here is a spicy addition. Easy recipe – Broil 1 large poblano pepper. Step 1: Coat lightly in olive oil. Step 2: Place in broiler. You will only need a few minutes until the skin starts to bubble. Take out the pepper and let it cool enough to touch. Peel off the skin and remove seeds. (You can keep them if you want it extra spicy). In a food processor blend: 1) 3/4 cup olive oil 2) 1/8 cup of […]
I love to try different sauces with my pasta. It may be a well known sauce or something I made up. This is a spin on a classic that is not necessarily a pasta sauce but here I am – using it that way. What do you think? An amazing plant based noodle dish when you want something different.
I love a good gravy with my rice. Many people refer to this as curry – in general I believe curry and gravy are interchangeable. They do have their differences by both can be added to something very dry. At home we call this type of food shaak (a dish made up of several different combinations of vegetables and spices, which may be either spicy or sweet). Being gujarati we like to add a bit of sweetness to the heat. The recipe below is a fusion dish – American Indian – just like me. Hope you enjoy it. Please feel free […]
Do you ever go out to a restaurant and think to yourself – I wish I could make that for myself? This is how I have always felt about gyros. I never tried the meat but I always had the fresh veggies with tzatziki and hummus. My husband always raves about the Mediterranean street cart food in NYC. Now that we are Denver and far from the streets of NYC – thought it would be a great time to start making this at home. We were really educated on the different kinds of vegan meat for gyros by our favorite […]
