Kickin Meatless Meatballs

I love to experiment with meat substitute products as a way to change up our routine. I am vegetarian but my husband loves his shawarma! We decided to do a compromise dinner with these spicy meatless meatballs – no compromising on spice. It is kickin with all the right textures. Drop me a comment.

Meatball recipe:

  • 1 Impossible ground meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 crushed red chili flake
  • 1/4 cup of diced onion
  • 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs

Sauce recipe:

  • 1 14 oz of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons of crushed red chilies
  • 2 teaspoons of miso paste
  • Salt pepper per taste
  • 1/4 cup of diced onion
  • 1 small diced tomato

Cooking Instructions:

  • Mix all of the meatball ingredients together – do not over work but make sure everything is mixed well.
  • Ball meatballs into the size you prefer. I generally take 2 tablespoons and mold together.
  • In a nonstick pan add ~ 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When the oil is warm add the meatballs. Cook ~ 3 minutes till brown. Flip to other side and cook for 3 more minutes.
  • Remove meatballs into another plate/pan and then add all of the sauce ingredients into the same pan. It is important to do this because the sauce can soak up the rest of the flavors in the pan.
  • Simmer sauce until it is bubbling – stir occasionally. When the sauce has simmered for ~ 3 minutes add the meatballs and cook for 2 more minutes.
